Tuberculosis is the 6th leading cause of illness and 5th leading cause of death among Filipinos, because of delayed diagnosis and treatment, ignorance about the illness, shame and financial issues. Through DOTS (Directly Observed Treatment Short Course) in partnership with local health centers, we aim to increase case detection and cure rate by expanding the coverage of local Community Health Volunteers. In doing so, we help people overcome barriers to appropriate medical care.50
