Worker's Support for Gerald Duarte Alvario

Gerald was only ten years old when his mother passed away. Putting away playtime, he had to learn how to cook, clean and sew. Finishing school seemed impossible until he was accepted  into Bukang Liwayway's scholarship program. More than getting an education, he also accepted Jesus and experienced spiritual transformation.

As a staff, Gerald managed the scholars in Welfareville, where he grew up in. He is currently fulfilling a three-month stint in Calapan as sponsorship coordinator for that area.

Worker's Support for Anamae Cabrobias

Anamae is 22 years old, and serves as leader of the Sponsorship team for all Bukang Liwayway communities.

Because only one BL scholarship is given per household, she was not eligible to apply for sponsorship as a child. That did not stop her from joining BL discipleship groups and youth camps, and eventually serving as a student leader. "It has always been my passion to serve in BL," she says. That same passion fuels her to make the three-hour journey from her home in Antipolo to Marilao, Bulacan, where she does administrative work and disciples youth leaders.

Bearing the youths' burdens can be emotionally challenging for her. She also shoulders the weight of being the breadwinner in her family on a faith-based income. But with courage and compassion, she soldiers on as an inspiration to other young believers. Her dream? To eventually further her studies in the field of social work to boost her ministry.

Worker's Support for Jessa Calanoga

I’m Jessa A. Calanoga, 30 years old and one of the fruits of the Sunday School ministry at Dawn Harvest Church in Antipolo. Looking back, I can truly say that God's grace has been evident in my journey. By God’s provision, I became part of BL’s Sponsorship Program from my first year in high school until my 4th year in Marketing Management. It was through this support that many doors were opened for me—not just in education, but in my walk with the Lord.

I came to know and follow Jesus when I was 14 years old. Since then, I’ve been mentored and discipled, and I eventually got involved in ministry—particularly in the Kids’ Ministry and the Praise and Worship Team. In 2018, I was given the opportunity to join a cross-cultural exchange program in Sweden and Norway for five years. There, I learned a new language, experienced a different culture, and became part of a family that allowed me to use and share my God-given gifts. Those years were life-changing and helped deepen my faith and broaden my perspective.

In September 2023, I was once again blessed to be part of Bukang Liwayway—this time serving as their Livelihood Manager. It’s a role that aligns both with my heart for ministry and my background in marketing and community work.

It has always been my prayer to serve God’s people in whatever field He places me, and today I am living that answered prayer. I continue to pray for the Lord’s guidance and favor as He uses Bukang Liwayway to bring hope and transformation to the urban poor through livelihood program and holistic development.

All glory to God who writes beautiful stories out of surrendered lives.

Worker's Support for Ervin Jay Lita

I’m Ervin Jay Lita from Mandaluyong. I became a scholar of Bukang Liwayway Dawn for the Poor in 2017 after a fire incident that deeply affected our family. That moment opened the door for me to know Bukang Liwayway and more importantly, to know Jesus. I started as a scholar of Bukang Liwayway Dawn for the Poor, Inc. where I found not only support for my studies but also spiritual growth and friendships, especially since I was raised by my grandmother. Despite our poverty, I graduated with 2 year course in IT and now work as an HR/Admin staff at BL, joyfully serving the Lord through the community that once lifted me up. All thanks to God and to the sponsor whom God used as an instrument.
